I love fandoms. Not going to lie. But every once and a while a fandom comes along that blows every other fandom pretty much out of the water, imo.
Luca's fandom of right now just so happens to be Metalocalypse and the ~~fictional~~ band it deals with, Dethklok. Tom introduced me to Metalocalypse who was introduced to it by Nick who is an intense metalhead. He then proceeded to convert both of us to the ways of the metals. I left it for a while but with the release of the second season, I've jumped right back into it like a duck to water. And it feels good, man.

Come on. You KNOW that icon is mesmerizing. Go Toki, go :DD

But aside from the band references and fantastic music, the adult swim humor and the character development in 10 minutes or less, the real high point of this fandom is the actual fans. Let me demonstrate:

These fans go out of their way to enjoy the fan/bandom and the people within it. Yes, I know that these are just interpretations of the characters and that they don't actually exist, but it makes following their twitters all that much better. They have actual personalities and they do update their twitters on a daily basis. I have no idea who these people are, nor do I want to know. There's an aura of mystery around them which levels off to make the game enjoyable to play along with. They could be just mild-mannered pencil pushers who have decided to pick up a popular character and join in the game or they could be the actual writers of the show themselves. For all we know, they could be actual celebrities. Who knows? But frankly, who cares! I've never actually seen this with any other fan/bandoms. The viral marketing that surrounds Dethklok is extremely clever and I absolutely love every minute of this madness. I know a lot of people out there despise twitter, but I'm really starting to see why so many people love it. Where else can I have conversations with Dethklok? Huh? Show me and I'll abandon my daily tweets for something else.
